A day trip in St. Louis while visiting a friend.
1. Eat breakfast and have a cup of coffee at the City Coffeehouse and Creperie If you're into cafés and café vibes, this is the place to go. I've only been here once, but I'm able to say their breakfast is sweet and so is their coffee. I had the Raspberry Beret Crepe while my friends had Belgian waffles. They were definitely filling and pair well with a good cup of coffee. 2. Take photos of the Gateway Arch Everyone knows about the Gateway Arch of St. Louis. Humongous, sky-scraping, and iconic, visiting the Arch is just another thing that you can say you knocked off your list. 3. Walk the Delmar Loop Walking the Loop gives a culture vibe you can't resist. It's a strip full of restaurants, boutiques, salons, and even tattoo shops. There's also a Thai ice cream place (the stir-fried ice cream scraped into rolls you see all over the Internet) called Snow Factory that is a must every time I visit. 4. Climb obstacles and slides at the City Museum They call this museum a huge playground because it's filled with things to climb and crawl into. Originally a shoe company, it turned into a funhouse with a slide that's (supposedly) 10 stories high (they really mean long), tunnels, and an outdoor area with cage tubes to crawl up and around. Tickets are inexpensive ($12 plus tax) which means the money is worth it; it's a great area to take pictures and let kids, young and old, roam free. 5. Take photos at the Citygarden Near the Gateway Arch is the Citygarden. I'm a sucker for fountain lights so I waited till sundown to get some night shots here. During the wait, my friends and I took photos with the sculptures and relaxed by the decorative waterfall. It's a peaceful area with a lot to admire. Of course, there is the amusement park, Six Flags, to go to for adrenaline rushes and many other cafés and locals to try out, but these are only a few suggestions for a day trip. I lived four and a half hours from St. Louis so I try to fit things all into one day to save the rest for driving. I would highly recommend small trips like these, so if you're close to St. Louis, you might as well head there and try these out.
